This is what can happen if the authorities do not allow you to enter the United States. Excerpted from the experience of Eva Ósk, an Icelandic who intended to spend a beautiful Christmas in New York.

They didn't want to tell me where they were taking me. The trip took more than an hour and although I could not see the exterior from the vehicle, I knew we had entered New Jersey. We parked before the prison. I couldn't believe this was really happening. Was I about to be jailed? They led me inside and interrogated me again. They made copies of my fingerprints and more photographs again. They performed a medical exam and put me in a cell. They asked me absurd things like when I last had the period, what were my beliefs, if I had ever tried to commit suicide.

Apparently the girl had consummated a visa in 1995 and had remained in the country for more than three weeks than allowed.

They look like things from an eastern country in the cold war, but no, it's about the country of freedom in the 21st century.
