The waters of the swamp of Siurana under the village
The population of Siurana in the province of Tarragona is one of those towns that gives off a magical halo to the traveler. Their houses rest on a large limestone rock with panoramic views of the Montsant mountain range and the Siurana swamp at a distance that frames a certain vertigo for many. The stone forms particular silhouettes and from the feet of the town, where the Estopiñá river runs part an interesting circular tour through which we will discover the swamp and the best views of the population of Siurana.
On Saturday it got cloudy and the weather bulletins forecast rains, so we opened the part and opted for the less cloudy area of the map. The winner was the province of Tarragona and among its options we chose to visit the swamp of Siurana and its surroundings to make a good hiking route through the area. It is an area little known tourist in Catalonia, reason for more so that we decided to drive the tooth to this beautiful place.
In just over an hour's drive we reach Porrera. A pretty rural town a few kilometers inland from Reus. In it we stock up on bread - splendid, by the way - cold cuts and water to forget hunger during the excursion that awaited us.
Swamp of Siurana
From Porrera we follow the road that connects to Montsant Cornice and we deviate to reach the foot of the swamp. After the rains of this winter the swamp of Siurana is at its maximum flow. Right at its doors there is a parking lot where we barely find a van and leave the car.
From the swamp there is a circular route counterclockwise that you can clearly see through the GPS track at the end of the article.
The road borders the swamp and a few kilometers away you can see the phenomenal town of Siurana hanging from the top of the cliff. There is a considerable precipice from the town that rushes to the swamp and along the way you have beautiful views towards it.
